March Meeting Report

Oak Hill, Tennessee
by The Oak Hill Tennessee Gazette

The Oak Hill Board of Commissioners had a special meeting at noon on March 17, 2014.  This was "because a quorum of the Board of Commissioners could not be present at the previously scheduled meeting, which was March 20 at 5 pm.  The regularly scheduled meeting for March 20 has been cancelled," as stated on the Oak Hill city internet site.

Three residents spoke in favor of allowing commercial development.  One of them said the Mayor made a mistake by saying that Oak Hill's financial situation is strong.  This resident said that the financial situation was "desparate" with only 33 months of money left.  Another resident said that there had been rudeness and intimidation at meetings.

Six residents spoke against commercial development.  One of them said she supports paying for services or a property tax.  Another resident said Oak Hill should eliminate trash pick-up.

The Oak Hill engineer gave a report on Otter Creek Road.  The city manager said this report will be put on the Oak Hill city internet site.  The Board of Commissioners delayed a decision until next month.  The engineer also said Metro water will be repairing a sewer line on Glen Leven Drive between McConnell Street and Newman Place.  The Board of Commissioners delayed until next month whether to repace Glen Leven Drive.

The University of Tennessee reported on the Oak Hill 2020 meetings.  The city manager said this report will be put on the Oak Hill internet site.

The Board of Commissioners voted to survey Oak Hill citizens.

The safety director said that the person who had been breaking into cars had been arrested and that there had been no more car break-ins.  There are also kids skateboarding down Hillview Drive.

The city manager said that the Oak Hill census showed 4,689 residents of Oak Hill, up from 4,529 and this would cause the city to get more money.

We are back!

Welcome back to the Oak Hill Tennessee Gazette!  We stopped operations a few years ago after getting a letter from a lawyer for a different paper called the Oak Hill Gazette.  Even though we have been quiet we have been watching and listening.  The times in Oak Hill have gotten too exciting lately for us to be silent.  On the advice of our lawyers we have added Tennessee to our name so that we are complying with all laws.
